Being able to record Zoom meetings is a useful trick that can be used many different ways. You can even download Zoom recordings, allowing you to review them anywhere, on any device, without needing to be logged into your Zoom account. You can even swap recordings with your friends and colleagues. Talk about portability! The question is: how do you do that? A recording you made and saved locally will be on your computer already so no need to download it!

You can also download a cloud recording by someone else, but you need to have a valid URL link to it, and the host has to have permitted viewers to download it.

What you need to get your hands on a Zoom meeting recording download depends on who created it and where it was saved. But you can do it from either a desktop computer or a mobile device.

In order to download a Zoom meeting recording that someone else has created and saved to the cloud, a few different things need to happen:. You can also delete recordings one at a time, in selected groups, or all at once.

There are also options to search for a specific recording, export a spreadsheet of data about your recordings, or delete multiple recordings at once. Create and store recordings of Zoom meetings.



 

To keep your Zoom recording long-term, you need to upload it to your Google Drive. Click the "Recording" menu option on the left-hand side of the screen to display your list of Cloud Recordings Select the recording you want to download by clicking on the title.

To upload a Zoom cloud recording to your Google Drive, you will need to download them first from your Zoom account. A new window will appear with the details of your recording similar to one pictured below: Hit the download button to the right next to the recording thumbnail image. Because PHI must remain encrypted at rest, make sure you are using full-disk encryption on any device that has research data containing PHI on it. However, the host can allow specific users to record the meeting through the Manage Participants panel. When you record Zoom meetings locally, each meeting recording is saved on your desktop device to its own folder labeled with the date, time, and meeting name. By default, these folders are inside the Zoom folder, located inside the Documents folder on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The easiest way to ensure that all parts of the meeting are backed up is to back up the recording folder itself. Meeting recordings are converted from raw Zoom files to MP4 video files automatically. If your recording fails to convert, follow Zoom's instructions to retry conversion or open a ticket. UITS recommends backing up recordings stored on your local computer to one of IU's file storage systems. You can also upload the converted MP4 video file to Kaltura.
